Save Money on Your Beautyproducts – Make Them Last Longer

Use your hair treatment as conditioner. There is no reason both to buy a deep hair treatment and a conditioner. A hair treatment actually works much better. Use instead the deep treatment as a conditioner after every hair wash.

Do not pump your mascara up and down in the tube when applying mascara. This dries the mascara out much faster.

Once your cream-tube is nearly used up, then cut it in half – there are still lots of cream left in the tube. Often a whole weeks extra use.

Buy travel bottles and fill your products over on these when you travel, instead of buying new products. A travel bottle or cream jar costs nearly nothing, can be found in most supermarkets and can be used again and again.

Invest in a proper foundation and concealer that matches your skin type and get help finding the color. Instead, buy a cheap mascara, lip gloss and transparent powder. Here, the cheap brands usually are just as good as the expensive ones.

When you use skin tonic, put in on a damp cotton pad. this way the cotton won’t suck in the whole product, and your skin tonic will last for twice as long.

A cheap conditioner from the supermarket is really good to shave legs with, and is much cheaper than shaving cream.

If your nail polish is dry or lumpy, then put a few drops of acetone / nail polish remover in it and shake it. Then it will be as good as new. Keep the nail polish even in the refrigerator, where it will keep fresh for longer.

Your fragrance can easily keep for several years. You should just never keep it in the bathroom because the steam from the bath will interfere with the scent and causes it to both vaporize and rancid quicker. Keep them instead in the bedroom, remember the to put the lid back on, and keep the perfume dry and dark in a cupboard or drawer.

A thick hand creme is really good at “anti-frizzing” hair. Put a hazelnut size of the cream in to your hands and slide it lightly over the hair after styling. Especially at the tips.

Use cheap shampoo and invest in a good hair treatment / conditioner - The shampoo’s only function is to wash the hair.

A little almond oil or apricot oil has great use for many purposes, and is both very cheap and natural. Use it both as eye makeup remover, hair treatment, nail oil and body lotion.

make your own face mask of a little yogurt, oatmeal and possibly a little honey or avocado – this gives your skin fantastic glow, cleans in depth and provides moisture. Massage it onto the skin for a scrubbing effect, and remove dead skin cells.

A cheap sunscreen is just as effective as the expensive ones when it comes to sun protection. Just be sure it contains both UVA and UVB filters.

Use Vaseline as lip balm. This moisture your lips very well and makes your lipstick stay on your lips. Vaseline is also good to put under the nose, when your skin is really red and irritated from having a cold. Use also Vaseline around your hair-line when dying your hair. This will keep the dye for coloring your skin. Vaseline is excellent as a brow-fix. Again, Vaseline is a product with many functions, and is really cheap. A jar of Vaseline costs almost nothing, and lasts for a very long time.

Mix your lipsticks together on the hand and create a new color, instead of buying a new one.

How to make wood mounting block spacer

Do you need something to mount on a wall but it needs to be spaced off the wall? Can’t find a commercial product that works? Here are instructions for making a wood mounting block spacer and anchoring it to drywall. You can then nail or screw just about anything to the block. Get your tools and let’s go!

Things you’ll need:

Scrap piece of wood
Power drill
Hand or power saw
Drywall or hollow wall anchor
Washers
Hammer
Patience
Scrounge at home for a scrap piece of wood to use for mounting block. Determine how big you need and cut the piece of wood to the appropriate length. Authors’s sketch indicates a small piece, yours may be larger. Use relatively new wood if possible, non-pressure treated.
Pre-drill wood with hole just a bit larger than anchor screw or bolt. Be sure the anchor you use is long enough to go through your wood block and the drywall (drywall is usually ½-5/8”). Drill your hole first, then unscrew anchor from expansion shield, and test by inserting anchor through wood into shield and screwing down slightly. Note amount of anchor left and plan accordingly. If anchor does not fit to original inside screw area, replace with longer anchor.
Hammer or screw in wall anchor, unscrew anchor, place wood block over anchor hole, rescrew anchor through hole and into wall anchor. Use washer s to prevent screw anchor from entering wood hole. Tighten down with screwdriver until wood block spacer does not move on wall. There you have it! Nail or screw your item to the wood block spacer.

Tips & Warnings:

Choose an appropriate anchor for size and depth needed considering the wood mounting block spacer and the drywall thickness and a couple of metal washers.
Use a power drill and screwdriver for best results.
Be careful when cutting or using power tools. Secure wood pieces firmly.
Be careful with power tools… use grounded receptacles!
